Oxford Canal reopens after fire

Published: Monday, 03 August 2020

THE Oxford Canal that was closed after a lock cottage caught fire is now open.

The fire at Grant's Cottage at Lock 30 on the waterway caused the navigation to be closed whilst the fire people attended to the fire that had broken out, Keith Gudgin reports.

Scene not disturbed

It was the police that requested operation of the lock be stopped whilst the fire was doused by the fire people and that the scene was not disturbed that might hinder any subsequent investigation.

The structure has now been made safe and fenced off.  No one was injured in the fire.
