More stoppages

THOUGH the end of the winter maintenance season, stoppages are still coming, though there is now little navigation owing to the coronavirus 'lockdown'.

Worcester & Birmingham Canal is closed at Lock 8 North of Worcester as a balance beam has failed and Canal & River Trust has to determine the reason for the failure.

Huddersfield Narrow

Two locks are closed on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal as they are silted-up.  Both Ramsden Lowest Lock (13E) and Ramsden Highest Lock (14E) in Huddersfield require dredging.

There is no intimation concerning the repair of the Lift Bridge that has failed on the New Junction Canal.

Fradley closed

On the Trent & Mersey Canal, Fradley Office is now closed with no services available until further notice, suggesting that boaters are now only able to use the online shop.  That of course is causing problems to continuos cruisers with sub post offices closed.
