More Rochdale woes...

IN ADDITION to the current stoppage on the Rochdale, a broken paddle has caused another.

Relying on a single paddle to empty Brearley Upper Lock (6) at Hebden Bridge, its breaking means the lock can no longer be emptied, Keith Gudgin reports.

No intimation

This of course means the navigation is closed until it can be repaired, with no intimation when this can be accomplished.

This stoppage is in addition to the stoppage at Lock 66 at Failsworth where its broken gate is scheduled to be lifted out today and taken for repair, with again no intimation when it will be replaced, though we are told it will be weeks.
