Two repairs completed

THE stoppages on two northern canals have been rectified and the navigations open.

The damage to the head gate at lock 61 on the Johnson’s Hillock Flight,closing the Leeds & Liverpool Canal has been attended to, and the waterway reopened, Keith Gudgin reports.

Rochdale Canal

Also the problem closing the Rochdale Canal at Chadderton has been attended to with the waterways fully reopened for navigation.

This was a stuctural failure on Scowcroft Lock (61), the problem with the offside gate hinge was preventing both gates from being fully operable, with Canal & River Trust stating that only one narrowboat could use the lock at a time.
