'Eyesore' hotel could be demolished

PLANS have been submitted that will see the 'eyesore' Riverside Hotel by the Avon demolished.

The plans are to replace it with eight houses together with a boat house, Alan Tilbury reports.

Closed six years ago

The old hotel, that closed six years ago, has become an 'eyesore' by the side of the river near Evesham, and though advertised for sale since in closed there had been no offers, hence the new plans for the site.

Not being a listed building and not designated as being of architectural merit, permission to build houses and a boat house was granted by council planners in November 2017.

Number of concerns

A pre-application that was submitted in February raised a number of concerns from Wychavon District Council including the number of homes, that is double the amount approved in 2017. visual amenity and the unsuitability of the proposed new road to development.
