FOUR boys have been arrested after a man was robbed then pushed into the Trent & Mersey Canal.

The non-swimmer was first threatened by a knife before he was pushed into the Trent and Mersey Canal in Stoke-on-Trent on Saturday afternoon.

The victim suffered injuries during the attack, with four boys aged 12 and 15, and two aged 14, arrested on Monday on suspicion of robbery and kept in custody.

Forced to hand over his cash

The man was forced to hand over his cash on the towpath near Middleport Pottery, before he was pushed in the chest into the water, the police reported.

It is understood that he was unable to get out of the canal, but was eventually helped out by someone who then called the emergency services.
