Patrols to stop men drowning

OVER the many years that narrowboatworld has been in existence, time and time again Alan Tilbury has reported young men drowning in the waterways, usually after a night out.

Bath must hold the record with 12 people having drowned in the Avon in nine years, and the huge majority after a night out drinking.

Medway

The Medway is another river that has it share of drownings, again young men after a night out, with Alan now telling that it is so worrying that night-time patrols are being instigated in the run up to Christmas to try to prevent revellers from drowning.

This has been prompted as there have been the deaths of four young men in recent years who drowned in the Medway after nights out at pubs and night clubs.
