Boat gets the blame

A LOCK on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal has been damaged we are told by Canal & River Trust, suggesting it is a boat that has caused the problem.

Lock 56 on the waterway at Blackburn has a gate out of action through damage, with only one of the broad lock gates now in use, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Only narrowboats

This means that only narrowboats will be able to use the lock until further notice as the damaged gate cannot be opened to allow broadbeams through.

This occurred yesterday, Wednesday.
