PASSING through Abbey Park on the Grand Union Canal in Leicester is to become yet another cruise through a massive housing development.
A £80 millions scheme has been approved by Leicester City Council to construct 325 homes plus offices along part of the waterway at Abbey Park by the side of the waterway, Alan Tilbury tells us.
18 acre site
Keepmoat Homes Ltd is the main contractor that will build on a at present disused 18 acre site, and has now completed the deal with the council. The Leicester Mercury picture shows part of the site of the development.
The Leicester and Leicester Enterprise Partnership has managed to obtain £20 millions from the Government's Local Growth Fund towards the project.
The scheme will include a £1.3 millions bridge over the waterway at Abbey Park.
