MICK Fitzgibbons states in his article Chaos reigns that in five years he is yet to encounter a problem finding a visitor mooring, writes Terry Ollerton.

That is very, very surprising because in my experience over the last six years I've had many, many mooring disappointments due to 'local' boats.

Kennet & Avon

He refers to overstaying boaters as being a 'tiny, almost insignificant number of individuals'. Clearly, for example, mile after mile of non compliant boaters on the Kennet & Avon demonstrate that he is wrong to minimise the problem.

Thankfully Canal & River Trust recognise non compliant selfish boaters spoil the enjoyment of waterways for all.

Instead of being lambasted, CaRT should be supported in their efforts to remove waterway squatters, as it is in everyone's interest to do so.
