More residentail berths

BRITISH Waterways Marinas Ltd (BWML), losing leisure boaters in the downturn, is now pushing for more residential berths, with its King's Marina at Newark on the Trent, including 10 more.

Newark & Sherwood District Council has granted planning permission for the extra berths, though we are not told of the total number now available.

Few left

Some of these have already been reserved, in anticipation of planning being granted, but there are still a few left, at a cost of £3,799 a year, that includes council tax.

Being on the Trent, the marina caters for wide beam vessels and cruisers as well as narrowboats. It is just a few minutes walk from the town and railway station with a direct service to London Kings Cross in an hour and a half.

Included in the cost is one parking space, a storage box and four free pump out cards a year.

More residential

BWML intent to to provide more residential moorings at its marinas, with Sarah Broker, its Customer Services Manager North, commenting:

"BWML remains committed to developing its portfolio of high specification residential moorings, across its estate, and looks forward to announcing the next wave of planning approvals."
