Fire destroys narrowboat

POLICE suspect arson was the cause of a stolen narrowboat on the Grand Union Canal in Birmingham being completely destroyed.
The police and fire service are investigating a suspected arson attack that destroyed a narrowboat moored at Acocks Green on the Grand Union Canal, Alan Tilbury tells us.
Completely gutted
Fire crews were called out on Sunday evening but the boat was well alight when they managed to get near it, it soon being completely gutted, but then eventually made safe by the towpath.
The fire people were at the scene for two hours, with paramedics on hand, but there were no casualties.
