MP lends a hand

MIDDLEWICH Local MP, Fiona Bruce, recently joined members of the Inland Waterways Association at its lockwind at Wardle Lock on theĀ  Middlewich Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal.

She heard about the association's campaign for proper funding for the inland waterways when British Waterways eventually becomes a charity.

Concerned

The Inland Waterways Association is concerned that sufficient funding is currently not being made available to enable this changeover to take place without potentially significant deterioration to the waterways and their structures.

A member

Mrs Bruce, who recently became a member of the Inland Waterways Association, listened to members' concerns and promised to take them back to Westminster.

Inland Waterways Association Chester Branch members then continued to work boats through Wardle Lock for the whole weekend, raising funds for waterway projects and raising awareness about waterways issues with the boaters passing through.
