Brand new at Sawley

VERY soon Sawley Marina will be able to boast of a brand new chandlery—not a re-vamp but a complete transformation.

Work has been underway for some weeks, piece by piece as for all the time the chandlery has been open for business, with the old building having its inside gutted as it was thought it had become rather shabby, and well in need of a face-lift. The first picture shows the area near the entrance being reconstructed, whilst the second one taken yesterday (Tuesday) shows the same area but with the counter being in position.

New interior

As the workers tore out the old interior and fixed a new one, the actual selling area was moved around to suit, and as this meant the majority of stock had to be stored, customers were able to order what they required to pick up at a later date, so as to maintain a service, especially to boaters.

It is now nearing completion, and an added advantage is that both the office and boat sales will  be in the chandlery, giving customers the advantage of everything in one place.

Floor flooded

The whole chandlery has had a new roof, walls and floor, bringing it up to a very good standard indeed.  However there was a problem that delayed the proposed opening date, BWML Retail Manager, Rod Grant told us, with opening the doors one morning to find the brand new floor flooded—the builders had left a water joint not tightened properly and it had leaked overnight—meaning the floor had to be taken up, the damaged made good, then renewed.

However, before too long it will all be completed, and with the variety of goods and services it offers will surely rank amongst the very best.
