IT WAS ON THE Tuesday 4th August that Atherstone Flight on the Coventry Canal was closed.
This through lack of water, Keith Gudgin reports.
As the water situation has improved this has allowed the flight to reopen to navigation.
But the flight—Lock 1 to Lock 12—will be on restricted operating hours from tomorrow, Friday 25th September 2026, with it open between 10.00am and 3.00pm, with the last entry at 2.00pm. Atherstone Top Lock pictured.
Help conserve water
The measures are being introduced to help conserve water while water resources remain under pressure and reduce the likelihood of further restrictions being required.
If conditions do not improve, it may become necessary to re-introduce additional measures, including the temporary closure of the lock flight.
