FROM THIS FRIDAY 25th September navigation through Gloucester Dock will be closed due to low water levels and increasing silt.
This is ahead of the dredging campaign commencing from 5th October 2026, with the trust urgently reviewing the size and scope of this campaign to account for the increased silt in the Docks.
This closure is earlier than planned due to the channel depths reducing with fewer boats navigating through and as a consequence, we are unable to guarantee the depth of the navigation channel.
Unable to leave
Take this opportunity if you need to move through or out of the Dock ahead of this closure. Boaters seeking to remain in Victoria Basin over winter will be unable to leave via the Dock until a safe channel has been achieved through the dredging programme.
The trust is unable to confirm when the Dock will re-open and the timing of reopening will be dependent on the scale of the dredging campaign and available water levels.
