MANY CANALS ARE RECOVERING their water levels after the rainfall.
But the Erewash Canal is not, Keith Gudgin reports.
In fact their are two stoppages on the waterway through lack of water.
The pound between Long Eaton Lock 61 and Dockholme Lock 62 has too little water for navigation.
The picture show the pound when we attempted the Erewash Canal many years ago, and stoppages through lack of water have been constant ever since our records show.
Another stoppage
The navigation is also currently closed on the pound between Stanton Lock 65 and Gallows in Lock 67 due to low water levels.
Passage through the locks is not possible until a team carries out water control, and may take a few days for the levels to come back up.
