THERE ARE FURTHER POUNDS now low on water on the Kennet & Avon Canal.

In addition to the usual Crofton Flight, Keith Gudgin reports.

However it is not sure which as Canal & River trust tell it is the pound between Oakhill Down Lock 68 and Froxfield Top Lock 69.

But it also tells the pounds between Potters lock 66 to Froxfield Top lock 69 are short of water. So perhaps it has become worse?

However it advises boaters to proceed with caution through affected areas. And make sure all local instruction is followed on locks, making sure all paddles are seated correctly.

Rochdale Canal

There is another stoppage on the Rochdale Canal from Lock 9 to Lock 12 due to low water levels and the pounds being closed.

The trust will examine the situation tomorrow, Tuesday.

Oxford Canal

The Oxford Canal too is suffering another closure due to low water levels.

This time it is the pound between Northbrook Lock 38 and Pigeons Lock 39.

Our being told that due to unknown water losses this pound is very low and advise avoiding this area until the cause can be established of the cause of the losses. Perhaps leaking gates.
