A disaster
But there was a disaster—it was buying a £25,000 cabin cruiser.
He thought it would be fun to buy a boat when he moved to near the Wey, but the river was not as expected.
For used to the waters of the Italian lakes he found the Wey was somewhat different and nothing like the Italian lakes! He remarking:
"It was a total disaster because the sum of my experience had been hiring boats on vast and tranquil Italian lakes during holidays, and here I was on a busy, major river.
"It was a nightmare, so I sold the boat, Graziella, and gave the money to my son for university."
