Re-openings on the Rochdale

REPAIRS to Lock 24 on the Rochdale have been completed and the lock re-opened.

It was impossible to equalise the level of the water to be able to open the top gates, but work on the paddles has allowed more water into the lock that has solved the problem.

Another re-opens

It is expected that the repairs to the guillotine lock (19) will also be completed and the navigation open today, Keith Gudgin reports.

However it is told that the gates on Callis Lock (13) on the Rochdale, also at Todmorden have dropped and this has raised concerns about their safe operation, so the navigation is now closed again.
