THE VOID AT LAPWORTH LOCK 9 has still not been fixed.
And there is little information, Keith Gudgin reports.
It was on Monday 8th December that the lock was closed to navigation owing to a void appearing behind the lock wall of Lock 9.
The engineering team visited the site to assess the situation and undertake necessary safety measures in closing the lock.
Now we are told Canal & River Trust has its Reactive Response Team attending the site.
We will be informed as more information becomes available.
Staffordshire & Worcester Canal
The navigation is still closed at York Street Lock on the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal.
The trust has been unable to repair the failed paddle, and the lock will therefore remain closed.
Repairs will be carried out as part of the planned winter works to replace the top and bottom lock gates, scheduled from 5th January to 13th March.
But passage through the lock can be arranged for essential travel such as returning to your mooring at Stourport Basin or leaving the basin to return to your home moorings.
