Stay away from Ely boat race

THOUGH the Gemini Boat Race 2021 is taking place at Ely, spectators are being asked to stay away.

GeminiBoatRaceThe coronavirus rules prevent such crowds so the organisers of the annual event are asking spectators to watch the race on television, reports Alan Tilbury.

Difficult to police

It is of course difficult to police the length of the River Great Ouse where the boat race will take place this coming Sunday so the message is for spectators to stay away.

The Gemini Boat Race 2021 is between the Oxford and Cambridge Blue Boats and is its 166th.  In addition to this male race this year sees the 75th women's race.

It will be will be broadcast live on BBC One from 15:00 to 17:30 on the Sunday 4th April.
