Now we know

FOLLOWING our complaint that there was no detail of why Stoke Bardolph Lock was closed, we now know why.

Canal & River Trust have told it is because 'the spear rod has been bent and the lock gates have been damaged at Stoke Lock', Keith Gudgin reports.

A little wiser

That makes us all a little wiser, should we know what a spear rod is, but at least we are getting more information.

But it is not Stoke Lock on the Trent it is Stoke Bardolph Lock, otherwise it could be confused with Stoke Locks—at Stoke on Trent!  Just a small Cartism though.

Anyway the Trust add that boaters cannot use the lock until further notice.
