Harecastle Tunnel on part-time

HARECASTLE Tunnel is now on part-time openings—and you have to book.

Gone it seems are those happy days of 'wellbeing' when boaters could turn up at Harecastle Tunnel at any time during normal long opening hours and get passage, Keith Gudgin reports.

Four days a week

For Canal & River Trust have cut back the opening of the Trent & Mersey Canal tunnel to just four days a week, it being being closed the remaining three days.

From next Monday 8th June, Harecastle will only be open for navigation on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.  And for only four hours each day—from 9am until 1pm and times must be booked in advance, on 03030 404040.

And don't attempt it if either your light or horn does not work—you will not be allowed through and no longer will you be loaned them either as in the past.
