Another L&L lock has restrictions

IN ADDITION to the Wigan flight being under restrictions due to leakage, another Leeds & Liverpool Canal lock is now under the same restrictions.

This is Lock 86 below the flight that will be manned during 8.30am to 10am to allow entry up and down the flight and 12.30pm to 3pm to allow exit from the flight, Keith Gudgin tells us.  The locks will be padlocked outside these times.

As there is a problem with Lock 86 a repair is being investigated.

What then comes as confirmation that the Leeds & Liverpool is in such a bad state of repair is the notice from Canal & River Trust that should boaters experience 'issues' whilst negotiating the flight to call its customer support team on 03030 404040 who will contact our Wigan Flight lock keepers.

And then the bad news—'Please bear with us as we may already be dealing with other urgent jobs'.
