Another K&A swing bridge breaks down

I THOUGHT I would let everybody know that the Kennet & Avon is is trouble again, writes June Hinckley.

A couple of walkers have told us yesterday [Friday] that the next swing bridge is out of action, with a boat unable to get through.

Conked-out

As we have a fairly decent mooring, we stayed where we were and walked up this morning and discovered that it is the Woolhampton Swing Bridge that has conked-out, so at least we are near civilisation.

We have our home mooring on the K&A so are used to its swing bridges and locks giving trouble, so I should imagine like other boaters aware of the current method of maintenance, we have given ourselves a bit of spare time for such contingencies!

What worries though is that it is the week-end. Not a good time for failures.
