Vandals hit Aynho Lock

VANDALS have struck Aynho Lock (33) on the Oxford Canal, making it inoperable.

This happened yesterday, Thursday, with the paddles damaged to such an extend that it is impossible to use windlasses, Keith Gudgin reports.

Working as soon as possible

Canal & River Trust staff are attempting to repair the mechanism and it is hoped to have the lock working again as soon as possible.

In the meantime of course there can be no passage through the lock.
