Fire pollution material draining into Trent

A MASSIVE fire by the side of the Trent at Newark is causing pollution draining into the river.
At the moment the Environment Agency is working with Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue at the scene in an attempt to limit the pollution, Alan Tilbury reports.
Quickly caught hold
The fire broke out at Briggs Metals early this morning and quickly caught hold releasing polluting material that helped by the water from fire hoses quickly poured into the nearby Trent.
Efforts are being made to minimise pollution. There has been no intimation from Canal & River Trust as to any restrictions concerning navigation.
