Ellesmere Port Easter Boat Gathering

Published: Wednesday, 17 April 2019

THE Ellesmere Port Easter Boat Gathering is to take place at the National Waterways Museum.

This will be the 40th such gathering at the museum, with boats now arriving for the week-end. The event runs from Good Friday to Easter Monday, inclusive, Alan Tilbury reports.

GiffordGifford

The 93 years old Gifford will make an appearance at the event after her recent refurbishment. She is the only existing butty of her type listed on the National Historic Ships Register.

She ended her working life in 1963, being one of the first boats in the museum, way back in 1976. Visitors will be able to experience what life would have been like  life in the decorated tiny cabin.

Music

The Shropshire Boatmen will be telling waterways stories in song, with others including  The Old Firm, The Hungry Horse Folk Club, The Raven Folk Club and David Gibbs.

There will of course be the usual workshops tours and museum activities.
