No boats at the canal festival

THE Canal & River Trust chaining-up the locks on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal had a dire consequence for the popular Burnley Canal Festival—no boats!

There were a couple, but the water level was so low, that together with the silt meant they had to moor away from the actual site, so those looking forward to their boat trips were disappointed.

Exceptional festival

All that was managed on the water were canoeists, but otherwise the festival itself was exceptional, with plenty of entertainment and things to see and no shortage of food and drink.
