Woman knocked over and robbed on towpath

A WOMAN walking along the towpath of the Worcester & Birmingham Canal at Edgbaston was knocked over and robbed.

She was taking a short-cut to the supermarket by the canal when a man knocked her to the ground, stole her handbag and ran off.

Around 20 years old

The thief was described as white, around 20 years old, of medium height, skinny with short black hair wearing a 'New York' T-shirt and blue jeans.

She had an amount of cash and her debit card in her handbag, and though she quickly stopped the card to prevent money from being taken out, her cash is of course lost.  Police tell that she managed to chase the man, but he was too quick for her and she was left shaken and upset.

Narrowboat passing

It is understood there was a narrowboat passing at the time, and the police would like to speak to whoever was on the boat at the time.
