THOUGH there are restrictions in force on the summit level at Tring on the Grand Union Canal, the water levels at Tringford Reservoir are good for this time of year.

Tringford17'Our man at the Summit', Howard Clarke tells us that though the levels are low they are normal for this time of the year, as his photograph taken yesterday shows.

Can't give sufficient supply

Canal & River Trust has introduced restrictions between Cowroast Lock (46) and Lock 39 and are allowing boating only between the hours of 11am to 4pm owing to lack of water it stating that the reservoir is so low so can no longer give sufficient supply to the waterway.

There is no intimation if these restrictions will be lifted in the the near future, only that there is the intention to attempt to overcome the complete closure of the waterway by the installation of a temporary pump, though it is understood there are two pumps installed.

Wilstone Reservoir is also at normal level for this time of year, as shown in Howard's photograph below.

Only two visitors

Howard adds that they were the only two visitors to the reservoirs during the afternoon!
