Drove into the Trent

Published: Monday, 30 January 2012

A WOMAN drove a car into the Trent yesterday (Sunday) in Nottingham, escaping being drowned, Alan Tilbury tells us.

A passer by saw the Mercedes plunge into the river off Victoria Embankment in the city, and contacted the emergency services.

Serious but stable condition

The woman managed to get out of the car with the help of a policeman, and was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre suffering from severe shock and hypothermia, where she is in a serious but stable condition.

No reason has been given as to why the car left the road.  The woman was the only occupant of the vehicle.
