Closed canalside café reopenes

The Playwrights Café at the Canal Basin at the terminus of the Coventry Canal closed in January without notice.

It had been in business since August 2020, serving visitors, locals and boaters, Roger Fox reports.

But this week it suddenly reopened announcing that diners don't have to fear as it is now fully open.

Playwrights Café offers breakfast and lunch by the basin and had developed a good reputation for its food. It had a five star rating on Tripadvisor. Out of the 30 reviews, 29 were rated 'excellent',

The Playwright's also has a 4.8-star rating on Google reviews—out of 237.
