Boatyard becomes art gallery

MANY boatyards are having hard times at the moment, but Tooley's at Banbury on the Oxford Canal has branched out as an art gallery.

The boatyard has gone into partnership with two artists so now includes Corpus Gallery at Tooley's art gallery, Alan Tilbury reveals.

Change

It's first exhibition, Immersed, is now open, and will run until the end of August, with a spokesman telling that in these changing times the boatyard needs to embrace, change and move forward to survive.

The work displayed will be of the Oxford Canal and its surrounding countryside.  Branching out is not new to Tooley's—the 200 years old boatyard—as it already has its annual Theatre In The Dock, that proved very popular.

The gallery is open daily from Monday to Saturday 11am to 5pm.
