Boats on the Wilts & Berks Canal

Published: Thursday, 28 April 2011

THE slow but sure method by the members of the Wilts & Berks Canal Trust, is paying off at last with boats on a section of the waterway during May.

It may only be trail boats, but the stretch between Chippenham and Lacock will have boats on it for the first time in more than 100 years.

Restoration project

It has been many years that the massive restoration project  has been underway, but such progress has been made with the restoration of the waterway that on Monday 2nd May, local MP Duncan Hames will officially open a length of the canal.

The event will include the 8th annual Chippenham to Lacock Boat Walk along the towpath.
