THE EMBANKMENT WORK ON THE breach at Whitchurch has restarted.
This was halted awaiting materials, Keith Gudgin reports.
The trust explain that following further assessment of ground conditions, areas of soft material within the existing embankment are being removed and replaced with compacted granular fill.
Stabilised
And the embankment design has been stabilised with a mechanically stabilised layer within the lower section of the new embankment, that will provide additional strength and resilience.
The canal dams that were relocated to the southern end of the embankment will remain in place for the duration of the works.
This of course relates to the breach that occurred on the Llangollen Canal on the 22nd December last year.
