THERE HAS BEEN A CAMPAIGN to get the Wendover reopened that was closed by Canal & River Trust.
This was because a leak was suspected and is being investigated and the navigation closed some months ago.
A flotilla of boats was organised by the Inland Waterways Association and supported by Dunstable & District Boat Club.
To the limit of navigation
This was made up of narrowboats, kayakers and paddleboarders, that cruised to the limit of the navigation where the leak was suspected.
The Wendover Arm was reopened in 2005 and connect to the Grand Union Canal, but only part of it is now open whilst the leak is investigated.
The aim of the flotilla is to highlight the need for the repairs to be made and navigation reopened.
