FIVE CHILDREN LOST their mother in a tragic drowning in the basin of Walsall Canal.
Jody Brown's body was retrieved from the basin in what has been described as a unimaginable tragedy, in the early morning of Sunday 3rd May.
Falling in
CCTV footage showed Jody walking along the towpath of the canal, slipping, then falling in.
A friend was of the understanding that she was unable to swim.
Tragically, nothing could be done to save her, for there was no one around so early in the morning, with her being pronounced dead at the scene. The drowning is not being regarded as suspicious.
After the tragic loss her family have called for safety barriers to be installed around the canal basin.
