THERE ARE THREE STOPPAGES that are still ongoing with work still taking place.

These are on the Huddersfield Narrow, Daw End and Tame Valley canals, Keith Gudgin reports.

On the Huddersfield Narrow Canal the stoppage was caused by a broken paddle  planks need to be sourced.

These need to be a specific fit tailored to the exact width of the section needed to be repaired so we are told. This could take a period of time to produce.

This closure will affect boats on Marsden Flight and any Standedge Tunnel bookings.

Daw End Canal

The stoppage at Daw End Canal concerns a pollution incident, with the navigation closed between Latham Bridge and Aldridge Wharf Bridge.

The pollution occurred on the 9th February, with boats stopped owing to the pollution being spread.

Tame Valley Canal

The Tame Valley Canal is undergoing extensive work on a culvert collapse. And is closed between Gorse Farm Bridge and Rushall Junction Bridge.

Both the waterway and towpath are closed to facilitate the operation.
