THE removal of' the 'damaged' gate sluice and refitting at Leeds Lock will take three weeks.

LeedsLockThis means the Aire & Calder lock will have been closed for over three weeks from the 11th of July until the 4th of August, Keith Gudgin reports.

Take until a Friday

It will take until a Friday to complete, as contractors are involved.

Of the problem, we are told the work team will be on site removing the damaged gate sluice from the upper gate. It will then be repaired and refitted, but if this is not possible, a blank sluice will be installed, to allow the lock to be brought back into operation.

From this it is clear the actual sluice was 'damaged', but how this could have been done is still not told.
