WORK on Kilby Lock on the Leicester Section is another repair that will take 'until further notice' until the navigation is reopened.
A stoppage notice was issued telling the cause of the stoppage at Kilby Lock was 'damage to the top gate', but how this could be caused we were not told, Keith Gudgin reports.
Now 'structure failure'
But now the cause of the 'damage' needs a crane to lift the gate out to effect a repair, and the reason given is now 'structure failure' it being realised that such as boaters could not be responsible as originally implied.
It will not be until this coming Friday that knowledge will be available about the state of the gate and the repairs required, then it is a matter of navigation being closed 'until further notice'...
