A MAN'S body was pulled from the Ashton Canal by the Asda car park at Ashton-under-Lyne on Tuesday.
As yet the circumstance have not been released, only that the man was deceased, Keith Gudgin reports.
Killer on the navigation
Early this month there was the question of a killer on the navigation, in the same area at Ashton-under-Lyne after a woman had been stabbed, dying at the scene on the towpath, with another escaping and in the same area a girl sexually assaulted.
There was a big emergency response to the latest death, with police, fire crews and paramedics swarming the towpath and car park that runs by the side of the canal.
Police and forensic vehicles remained at the scene carrying out investigations after the body was removed, working to identify the man and the circumstances surrounding his death.
Towpath cordoned-off
The towpath was cordoned-off during this time.
After the early attacks in the same area in Ashton-under-Lyne, it left the towpath, it was revealed, as a no-go area for many regulars.
