WHILST sympathising with hire boaters for 'lost' holidays, writes Martin Howes.
It is unreasonable to expect hire companies to foot the bill, or even for CaRT to do so. You wouldn't expect the Highways Agency to cover the costs of a delay through road works or similar.
Travel insurance
Everyone has the option of taking out travel insurance to cover such eventualities.
I'm surprised that hire companies have not seen the commission opportunities of offering to act as brokers of this facility.
