A LOCK BREAKAGE on the Huddersfield Broad Canal has closed the waterway.
The reason being that the anchor and collar have been broken, Keith Gudgin reports.
Canal & River Trust tell this is on Turnpike Road Lock 5.
This means the towpath side head gate of cannot be moved, so the lock was closed to navigation yesterday, Friday.
New casting
We are told that the lock gate will need a new casting sourcing and fitting Instructions.
There of course can be no passage through Lock 5 until the repairs are completed.
At present there is no end date when the work will be completed, but further information will be given as work continues.
