WHAT a pleasant surprise to read of Richard Parry's appointment! Writes Martin Brooks.

At last, a CEO who has experience of running a transport network, I am looking forward to seeing what changes he brings in.

I do hope he starts by replacing all of the 'old guard' with his own appointees, therefore removing anything and everything tainted by the failed Evans regime.

Council elections debacle

Secondly, I would like to see him sort out the council elections debacle, and here is my suggestion as to how:

Offer the IWA the permanent seat on council that they covet, in exchange for it vacating the independent boaters seats, and their membership being disbarred from standing for these seats in future.
