No closure notice for stoppage

AN UPDATE for a stoppage was sent out by Canal & River Trust, yesterday, Thursday, concerning the Ashton Canal.

But no actual closure notice beforehand, Keith Gudgin reports.

However, the Ashton Canal is closed at Lock 9 due to an head repair being required, but it is not known what particular repair is required.

Short stoppage?

But as the team is on site and our being told it is 'repairing the issue', it perhaps will only be a short stoppage.

This particular canal, unlike others, has very few stoppages with only one previously in the past year.

UPDATE—It was a short stoppage indeed as the waterway is now open.
