More Chesterfield Canal vandalism

Published: Monday, 13 August 2012

THE water level between West Retford Lock and Forest Bottom Lock on the Chesterfield Canal has dropped dramatically due to vandalism.

Boats will not be able to travel though these locks until this problem has been rectified, we are told, though work is underway to get the level up again.

Prone to vandalism

This waterway is prone to vandalism, as only last week the paddles on both Stret Lock and Deep Lock at Rhodesia above Worksop were vandalised, severely affecting their use, though these have now been repaired.

Boaters have warned us that it is not wise to moor in the precincts of either Retford or Worksop, due to vandals.
