Irish canals filling

Published: Monday, 28 May 2012

THE Irish canals—particularly the Royal Canal—have had the same problems of their English counterparts, suffering low levels caused by the combination of the drought and leaks.

But a notice has been issued by  Waterways Ireland that though the summit level is still down, it is expected that it will be back to normal by this coming Friday, 1st June.

The notice advises boaters moored West of Collnahay to arrange to have their boats, that were stranded, moved at that time  as no guarantee can be given to sustain water levels on the summit.
