Barge Bookshop solution

The story of the Barge Bookshop not being allowed to trade from Bristol docks has taken a surprising turn.

Bristol City Council, who banned the trading by Sarah Henshaw from her narrowboat at the docks, has offered her a market stall in the city's St. Nicholas Market on Fridays and Saturdays.

Carry on her business

She can use the stall to carry on her business both selling and bartering books in the city, and is considering the offer.

It may be remembered that Sarah was refused permission to trade in the harbour due to a lack of public access and the 'issue of liability' if someone was injured in the shop.

During the summer Sarah cruised the waterways with her books.
